The Coalition’s Helping Homeless Students: McKinney-Vento 101 workshop is designed for school staff, nurses, parents, students and case managers to provide an overview of educational rights and common issues for homeless students of all ages. Presenters include TeamChild, Solid Ground, Building Changes and McKinney Vento Liaisons from multiple schools districts.
This workshop will introduce the federal McKinney-Vento Homelessness Assistance Act, which promotes educational stability, school access, support for academic success, and child-centered decision-making for homeless youth, children, and families. In addition to providing a better understanding of the law, we intend this workshop to serve as a timely, informative, and collaborative platform between school staff, families, and community-based case managers to work together effectively to support homeless students and their families. school activities.

Due to COVID-19, the Coalition meetings are currently online only via Zoom and we ask that participants register for each month. You will receive a confirmation email with the access information to join the meeting. These Zoom calls are accessible via computer and phone dial-in options.
The Coalition hosts General Membership Meetings monthly on the third Thursday. We provides education and advocacy resources to staff, clients, and board members of organizations like yours. We convene and facilitate monthly meetings, host case manager trainings, share resources and information related to public benefits, budget and policy priorities, and topics of shared interest for our members. We create opportunities for our members to engage in city, county, state, and federal advocacy related to housing, homelessness, and human services. Our work is guided and informed by our members, who in turn shape the direction and focus of our advocacy.
